Wrath taking leave of absence as ILES principal, won't return next year

May 30, 2019
MEREDITH — Inter-Lakes Elementary School Principal Jenn Wrath is on a leave of absence due to health reasons and will not return to her position next year.

Superintendent Mary Moriarty sent a letter to parents dated May 10 announcing that Wrath experienced a health concern and will take a leave of absence for the rest of the year.

"Mrs. Wrath certainly finds it difficult not to be available to students, their families and staff at this time, but knows that all will work together to ensure a successful and positive end to the school year," Moriarty wrote in the letter. "I know that the wonderful Inter-Lakes Elementary School community wishes her well during this period."

Moriarty wrote that Wrath has said she wants to work more directly with students in a teacher role and will not be returning as ILES principal next year.

According to the letter teachers announced this to students on the following Monday, May 13.

For the remainder of the school year Assistant Principal Barbara Pope and Curriculum Coordinator Kathleen Hill will take over the day to day operations of the school.

Moriarty said later an advertisement will go out seeking a new principal. She said she will update the Inter-Lakes School Board on this matter during its meeting on May 28 (after the publication deadline for this paper).

"We want to thank Mrs. Wrath for her care and service for the students and the greater school community," Moriarty said.

Wrath has served as ILES principal for three years.

"I am sure that many would like to share a note to thank Mrs. Wrath for her leadership and care over the past three years along with well wishes," Moriarty wrote. "If you send them to the school we will be sure that she receives them."
