OSSIPEE Smoking Guns BBQ & Butcher Shop opens this Friday, May 24, in Center Ossipee Village, and owner Gary LaFoe wants it to be your barbecue headquarters.

Lafoe is a butcher who worked for many years for a grocery store chain. He then went on to open LaFoe's Meat Cutting, a popular place for hunters and farmers to take their animals to be processed. Meanwhile, he also took his barbecue on the road, throughout the region, catering events and serving up lunch and dinner from his mobile food truck.

But every day LaFoe drove by the vacant storefront at 18 Moultonville Rd. and decided to give his business a home. Reached by phone, LaFoe agreed there are many hoops to jump through to be ready for business but said everyone including vendors and permitting officials have been very helpful and supportive.

Smoking Guns will be open for business May 24-26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and then beginning May 27 will be open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The extensive menu, for eat-in or carry-out includes smoked pork, brisket, chicken and sausage with a dozen side dish options including mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and fries. Other menu options include steak tips, fried chicken, rib eye, cheeseburgers, hot and cold subs, and pizzas. He will be offering breakfast sandwiches, too. And for dessert, try the fried Oreos.

Smoking Guns will also offer a full selection by-the-pound Boar's Head lunchmeats, cheeses, as well as butcher shop meat cuts, including marinated steak tips and chicken.
